One In A Million

The latest rage in business these days is for employees to set personal goals. How can I the improve the process, what do I hope to accomplish in the upcoming year etc.? In my opinion this is a lazy man’s managerial style, but none the less, it is flavor of the day. But let’s face it, if I am setting personal goals they will always be set on the soft side, nobody likes to let themselves down, right? Where am I going with this incoherent rant you might ask, good question. I am going to share my personal boxing goals for the upcoming 12 months, so let’s begin.

#1) I WANT TO JUMP ROPE! It may sound like I set the bar low but until you see how bad I am, save your opinions, I (insert S-Word).

#2) MOVE MY FEET WHEN I BOX, it literally looks and feels as if I am glued to the floor, I was never a twinkle toes, but man do I (insert S-Word).

#3) BETTER BALANCE, for a guy who at one time competed in motor cycle observed trials, which by the way is all balance, I (insert S-Word).

#4) KEEP MY SENSE OF HUMOR, it has served me well for over 60 years and besides I am (insert F- Word), not that F-Word, Funny, I was talking about Funny!

#5) CONTINUE WELCOMING NEW PEOPLE INTO ROCK STEADY BOXING, I know the sense of loss and uncertainty we all go through dealing with Parkinson’s. I think there is something reassuring about having the guy with the biggest (insert F-Word) mouth tell you everything is going to be OK, and I am that guy.

So, let’s recap my goals, jump rope better, move my feet when I box, stay on two feet, find humor in my day to day life, run my mouth when new boxers arrive and keep running it even after they have gone home, check. I think I got this. My goals for the next 12 months may seem lofty, but the goal I really want to accomplish is……. drum roll pleaseeee, a year from now I want to be who I am and what I am as I write this today, April 17,2019, wish me luck.
